========   Feedback to ICANN
It seems that ICANN does not comprehend that it is playing a very strong role in worldwide public policy. As a USA-based private sector, ICANN thinks that what is permitted in USA is also permitted or must be permitted in the rest of the world. It enforces the western culture and values into other societies. It does not respect and recognizes other society’s values. It also ignores the fact some of the issues that will result from the new TLDs are considered criminal act or unlawful in some parts of the world.

For example, some of the applied-for gTLD strings (e.g. sex, sexy, adult, porn, gay, …) are not welcomed in many societies and communities and are against the law. It if its really desired and needed in the ICANN home community (USA) you can have it under .us (e.g., porn.us) but not in the worldwide root space.

ICANN should work for the benefit of societies. It should not indulge itself in prompting and expanding pornography on the Internet. ICANN is hurting families, children, women, and girls around the world by spreading and increasing porn in the Internet through allowing porn TLDs (e.g., .xxx, .sex, .porn, .gay, .adult, …).

This process is just a proof that a private-led ICANN is not good for public policy. It does not care and work for the public interests. It works against the protection of children and family. It rather works for the benefit and increase revenue of private sectors.

======== Comments on Sex/Adult/Sexy/Porn Applications

Is ICANN advocate of porn in the Internet?

ICANN should stop expanding pornography on the Internet and not the other way. ICANN is hurting families, children, women, and girls around the world by spreading and increasing porn in the Internet.

We do not need any more porn domains. Porn is harmful. It treats women as nothing more than sexual objects. It is an addiction that causes the person to turn to harder porn to be satisfied until there is no longer enough which leads to crimes. Porn damages relationships, families, and marriages and hence communities.

When .xxx launched, we were told that such a domain would protect children and others who do not want to view pornography, as the .xxx would be the place where all Internet porn sites would locate. Unfortunately, the porn sites on the .com domain have not vacated the .com and moved to .xxx. Rather, the .xxx has just added thousands of additional porn sites on the Internet and .com porn sites stayed put. ICANN bears responsibility for their world-wide mistake. The .xxx was not needed.

The majority of domains bought under .xxx were as defensive registrations. Thousands of universities, businesses, politicians and famous individuals have been forced to pay protection money to ICM Registry in order to protect their brand from being associated with pornography. Many of these have had to pay thousands of dollars to ICM Registry, which has made ICM Registry millions of dollars. Now, these brands will have to fork over millions more in order to protect themselves on .sex, .porn and .adult domains.

I oppose the creation of the porn domains (.sex, .sexy, .adult, .porn, …) because I believe it will increase the production and circulation of internet pornography and hence crimes and rapes.

This process is just a proof that a private-led ICANN is not good for public policy. It does not care for the protection of children and family but rather works for the benefit and increase revenue of private sectors.
